Must-haves while Travelling

Travelling is a way to open up your mind, free your soul from the busy life and take a break from everything. To make this trip better from all sides, there are some things that you need to have with you. So, while travelling, you need to be Megamind and plan everything accordingly and I must emphasise that a lot of the things you think you need aren’t actually essential.

Here I am going to share a list which you will need while you are travelling – (Please note that the products listed below are not sponsored in any way. There are affiliate links – which means if you use the provided link to buy, it wont affect your price in any way but will help me with a little commission from Amazon)

Backpack

I have owned a 50 litre rucksack for a few years now and although it is great and helps me pack a lot of things inside, when it comes to organising or carrying electronics, it fails.

Then I came across a product by Amazon – it is a 46 litres backpack. Here are some pictures of it –

I love this backpack because it has all the compartments that I will ever need when backpacking through a place. It has compartments for your clothing, your toiletries, your documents, your laptop, your electronics – basically anything that you will need in a trip.

I own this and I can vouch for it. If you want to check this out in Amazon, you can click on this link.

Packing Cubes

When it comes to packing your stuff, it is pretty easy to mess things up and in only a two-day trip, you will end up mixing all your things inside your backpack. For that packing cubes are used by smart people. 😉

Organiser

These little things will save up your day, it will help separate your dirty clothes from the clean ones, it can help you separate your tees from shirts which will save you a lot of time when searching for it. It can help you in a numerous other ways. Find it out yourself.

I personally love these cubes that I have shared. If you want to check this out in Amazon, you can click on this link.

Microfibre Towel

Have you seen how much a towel takes up your space? Also it takes decades to dry up. Not ideal while travelling.

Microfibre towels are your saviour. They soak water quick, they dry quick and most importantly – they are surprisingly thin and takes very little space. I have used them and they are great. Not just for travelling, you can use it at home and can replace all those mammoth skin-like towels with these.

It takes only about 2-3 hours to dry up and when folded, it gets really small. 😀

Travel Adapter

Every country has their own power outlets. There isn’t a universal electric plug. A more detailed information is available in this blog – Why isn’t there a universal electric plug?

So to run your electronics, you need to have the suitable plug-in the country you are visiting. It is also not practical to have separate power plugs for every country you visit. So your best chance is to have a travel adapter with you.

This product has 2 USB slots and sufficient outlets for every country you visit. If you want to check this out in Amazon, you can click on this link.

Power Bank

You have a lot of electronics with you and eventually you will need to charge. But if you are hiking for 3 days, your phone or camera battery wont last that long. So it is always great to have a power bank with you. Power banks nowadays are cheaper – you will get like good 10,000 mAH in around 800 rupees.

Travel Underwear

I cannot emphasise enough how much a good pair of underwear will save your day. Here is the usual scenario – you wear a pair of underwear and the next day you have to change it because it is yuck!! And imagine this when you are out trekking for a week. Your travel bag will contain more underwear (mostly dirty) than essential items.

This is where a travel underwear comes into play. These are good quality underwear, proven to stay fresh 3-4 days even with intense work outdoors. These are designed to let airflow, they dry quick, they are soft and comfortable.

There are a lot of brands out there but the most famous one is Ex-Officio. These travel underwear do cost more than regular ones but they are totally worth it. There are people who take just 2 pairs on a month-long trip and each will last 3-4 days without even washing. Yes, it may sound dirty but it actually isn’t. These are tested and don’t let bacteria form and so you are good to go.

Notebook

While travelling, the best thing are the memories that you create along the way. But the second best thing will be sharing those with everyone. But how can you do that if you forgot important details? So it is best to carry a notebook with you – a place where you can jot down information about every place you visited, you can write names of all the people you have met, you can capture notes or to-do-lists and when you are back home, you will be astonished to see the amount of information you brought back home.

I love this one from AmazonBasics. I own one. Soon to buy another one. If you want to check this out in Amazon, you can click on this link.

Toiletry Bag

You would not want your clothes to smell like toothpaste, nor would you want your camera to have a rejuvenating bath with favoured mouthwash, right?
Then getting a toiletry bag will be a wise thing to do. It will have all the necessary compartments for your toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, shaving equipments, etc.

Luggage Weighing Scale

If you are travelling by flight, this is one of the most important things you will have in your arsenal. You will feel its need when you are down with a lot of items to pack and you have a luggage limit.

For me, weight usually adds up because of my laptop, DSLR, GoPro, Hard disk, Power Bank, etc. These electronics – I can’t travel without them. Also I am not a person with a lot of clothing options and so it helps to pack light and have enough space for the electronics. But eventually I do have to weigh them to be on the safe side.
