My Travel Bucket List

When surfing through Facebook or Instagram, we often come across some images – put by maybe our favourite celebrity, our friends, someone you shamelessly stalk or someone you hate but can’t unfollow. These images are places that they have visited or they have shared from someone else’s profile – places that you can’t get it out of your head because they are heavenly. These images might be about nature, it might be about magnificent architecture, it can be about folk dance, it might be about local food, it can be anything.

But as time pass by, the desire to visit that place doesn’t fade away, but grows stronger and stronger. And when you gather many such places, you end up making a list, your Travel Bucket List, that consists all the places that interests you in some way or the other.

This blog is dedicated to my Travel Bucket List – this list is the combination of all the places that I have seen since a kid and have always wanted to visit. I might love the culture, the history behind it, the food served there, etc. Please note that the list is in no way sorted in any manner. Every place mentioned is special to me. Might be for you as well.

So here it goes –

Teotihuacan

When it comes to the places that I want to visit, this place definitely tops the list for me. I am pretty sure many of you haven’t heard of this place and yeah, that is expected.  This place isn’t talked about by many people. Well let me put some light onto this – this place is in Mexico. It is a vast archaeological complex situated in the northeast of the Mexican City. It links the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, the Pyramid of the Moon and the Pyramid of the Sun. Artifacts in the Museum of Teotihuacan Culture include pottery and bones. Machu Picchu

This place is the combination of nature and civilisation and those who are turned on by both should really visit this place. In the Andes Mountain in Peru lies this Incan Citadel. It was built in the 15th century without the use of mortar for which it is quite renowned because the sophistication of these dry-stone walls is beyond any explanation. [Image Source]

The Great Pyramids

Probably one of the most famous places in the whole world, the Pyramid of Giza stands tall and with pride and it has its reasons to do the same. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex bordering what is now El Gaza, Egypt. [Image Source]

Safari in the Africa

Are you like me who grew up watching Steve Irwin playing with the crocodiles or being amazed at Dian Fossey who lived with the gorillas? If yes, you must have always dreamt of going on a Safari to Africa and witness wildlife in its true nature. This is one of the best places to choose from if you love animals, wildlife and nature in its raw. [Image Source]

Temples of Angkor

Built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as the state temple, these Khmer Empire architecture are something I definitely want to visit once in my life. Ancient things have always intrigued me and these surely serves the purpose. [Image Source]

See the Whales

Aren’t these one of the most fascinating creatures on the planet? Mammals on water – quite unique right? Did you know that whales once used to live on land but evolution took them in a rather different direction. One day, I would like to see a whale do a back-flip infront of me! [Image Source]

Visit Kyoto

Japanese culture always fascinated me and after watching tons of Anime and Japanese movies, everything escalated. And when it comes to beautiful cities with vintage touch, Kyoto tops the list for me. Just look at the images, you be the judge – (tons of beautiful images and so will attach a Google Images screenshot)

Ride a Horse with the Cowboys

Ever seen the classic – ‘The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly’? Remember the tune? It just creates a whole scene before your eyes.

For those of you, who haven’t heard it yet, here you go –

Walk the Great Wall of China

You think this won’t be in my bucket list, huh? [Image Source]

Easter Islands

I remember seeing these statues in a Simpsons show long ago, also might have seen here and there in Disney animated shows. Since a kid I was interested in these statues and wondered where their legs might be. This is definitely one place I would want to visit once in my life. [Image Source]

Explore Jordan

I don’t think that a lot of people have any information about the lost city of Jordan. Let me help you with a little trivia. Jordan is an Arab nation, famous for ancient places like Petra, the Nabatean capital dating to around 300 B.C. Petra is also known as the ‘Rose City’ because of the tombs, temples and monuments carved into the surrounding pink sandstone cliffs. A walk through these areas will take you back thousands of years. American Road Trip

It is said, if you want to experience ‘real’ America, you should hit the roads. Get a Caravan, hop onto it with someone with similar interests, pack your food and clothes and  just go. It will be one of the best decisions you will ever take. Many have sold all they have and are travelling full-time on their car in these roads because it is that addictive, or maybe they have nowhere to go now as they sold everything, who knows? But this definitely is something that I drool about. [Image Source]

Uyuni Salt Flat, Bolivia

Heard about the largest mirror in the world? Here it is.

Just look at it. This isn’t a processed image. This isn’t VFX. It is real. It is present. You can go there and break Facebook servers with a picture like this. [Image Source]

It is actually world’s largest salt flat. It is the legacy of a prehistoric lake that went dry, leaving behind a desert like, nearly 11,000-sq.-km. landscape of bright-white salt, rock formations and cacti-studded islands.

Sunrise at Cappadocia

Cappadocia is a semi-arid region in central Turkey. It is famous for hot-air balloons. My bucket list consists of watching the sun rise, on a hot air balloon with someone special. 🙈 or a pizza. Whatever is possible. Maybe the latter is more feasible and realistic. [Image Source]

Visit/Stay in a Castle

Being a person who loves history or ancient things, my desire is to someday visit an English castle and if possible, spend a/some night(s) there. You know, there are a lot of castles in Europe that are up for sale. No, I am not kidding. Go and buy some. 😉 [Image Source]

Warwick

Warwick Castle is a medieval castle developed from an original built by William the Conqueror in 1068.

Visit Transylvania

Fascinated by Count Dracula, my bucket list consists of visiting the land where it all started. This includes visiting the famous Bran Castle, the alleged inspiration for Dracula’s castle in Bram Stoker’s 1897 classic horror story. [Image Source]

So here you go. The list of places that are in my Travel Bucket List. But mind it, these aren’t the only ones and if I go on writing, the list will be a long one – long enough that you wouldn’t scroll till the bottom. I tried my best to include whatever I could remember and thought worth mentioning.

If you think, I should have included something more, do let me know in the comments below or write to me in my Facebook, Twitter or Instagram profiles. I will add them with proper credits.

A pro-tip, if you are visiting your dream place, it is best to travel solo. There are a lot of advantages. You can read about those in here.
